Trausti

Trausti Þór Guðmundsson was born and grew up in downtown Reykjavik. As
a little boy he started seeking the company of horses and at 12 years
old he bought his first horse, a 3 yeas old gelding from the farm

Professional training

Trausti started professionally training young horses when he was 16
years old and has done that for most of his life.
In 1970 he graduated with an agriculture diploma from the agriculture
university at Hvanneyri. In 1975 he joined the Icelandic trainers
association FT and in 1983 he became a licensed riding instructor.

FT- The trainers comunity.

Trausti was the president of FT for 9 years and among other
projects,
started the cooperation between FT and the university Hólar which led
to the education for horse trainers and instructors as we know it
today. Trausti was after that sitting for few years in Ft´s and
Hólar´s education committee which took care of the development of the
education in Hólar. He was also one of the exam judges of the
university.

_Experience

Trausti is an experienced competition rider and has had very good success
in competing.
Trausti has held riding courses all over Europe as well as north
America and lived in the south of Germany between 1997 and 1999.
Trausti was most recently the editor of the Icelandic horse magazine
Eiðfaxi from 2007 to 2011.

Kirkjuferjuhjáleiga

Today Trausti lives on his farm Kirkjuferjuhjáleiga which lies in the
south Iceland about 35km from Reykjavík. There he breeds horses and
trains horses both from his own breeding as well as others.
